This Showy Annual plant originates from Africa and Southern India but it has naturalized in Tropical areas worldwide. Medicinally, it has long been used for fevers, dysentary and snakebites while in the East Indies and Carribean it is also used for colds, asthma and as a heart tonic. The plant is anti- inflammatory and helps with pain relief. Lion's Ear has square stems which can grow quite tall in fertile soil and they produce large quantities of showy tubular pinkish/orange blooms loved by pollinators of all kinds! Great addition to any medicinal garden. Hardy annual to zone 10.
