Crimson Sage Garden 2012

Crimson Sage Nursery is a woman-owned business run by myself, Tina Glaessner, also known in the herbal world as "Tina Goat", with much appreciated help from my annual live-in helpers, as well as various herb loving community members who come lend a hand when needed.

We live on a small parcel of land, which is packed pretty tight with our mini-homestead and nursery operation. We have a flock of chickens for eggs, a small herd of goats for milk, cheese, kefir and yogurt (plus fertilizer for our gardens). We have 2 dogs, 3 cats, some large goldfish, which may soon pass as Koi, swimming in our little pond. We have a large veggie garden for ourselves, along with raspberries, strawberries, boysenberries, blueberries, Kiwi's and a small mixed tree orchard.

Our herb gardens are not really formal, as much as they are integrated throughout the property, with more herb beds created each season, including my long awaited Woodland Garden in the shade of a Cottonwood in the nursery!!

Motherwort pops up along our path to the goats and lemon balms grow right in the pathways. dominated my flower bed by the house and Red Plantain seems to be ). The sage and lavender bed have matured into a beautiful summer display with many varieties represented for propagation along with many roses I have collected. We have a larger production herb patch where we grow the herbs needed for the line of products we make and we can harvest what we need for our own medicine chest.

Most of our growing area including the Greenhouse and Nursery is irrigated using highly efficient mini-sprinklers, which are excellent for conserving water supplies. Our water comes from the beautiful Pearch Creek drainage, which we have a view of from our property. The Mighty Klamath River provides a constant background "babbling" or "roar", depending on the season as we go about our chores, grow and nurture all our plants, and carefully pack your orders in our packing shed.

I grew up on the East Coast, but have been living and farming on the West Coast... first in Washington State and eventually California, since 1983. My interest in medicinal herbs and medicine making was sparked in the 80's and after many years of Market Gardening and being a grower of specialty greens, culinary herbs and edible flowers, I found a way to use all my growing experience in the world of medicinal herb plants, which is my true passion.

I appreciate the opportunity to provide folks all over the nation with organically grown Medicinal Herb Plants for their own gardens. My hope is to inspire as many people as possible to grow their own medicines in their own backyards, and enabling them to take care of themselves in these uncertain times.

Wishing all of you an abundant gardening season and many peaceful moments watching your plants grow!!!

Happy Gardening, Tina
